Overview

Even the most experienced and prepared trekkers can find themselves in precarious situations when exploring the wilderness. In these cases, time is of the essence, especially when resources are limited and professional medical care is not close by. This practical and easy-to-use field reference is a must-have companion for field workers, campers, SAR responders, and those who spend time in remote wilderness locations. It includes tips for dealing with commonly encountered injuries and conditions, wound care, emergency situations, nature hazards, and outdoor exposure risks--all while being portable enough to fit into a pocket or chest harness. As an added bonus, this lightweight, 12-panel folding guide is waterproof, allowing it to stand up to rigorous field use in all conditions. Profits from the sale of this guide support ongoing training by NASAR, which administers credentialling evaluations and testing programs that meet or exceed CSA, ASTM, NFPA, and FEMA standards. Made in the USA.

Author Information

The National Association For Search And Rescue (NASAR) has been in existence since 1972. Originally started to represent the State Search and Rescue Coordinators, NASAR grew to represent all SAR volunteers and continues to support the State Search And Rescue Coordinators Committee (SSARCC). NASAR uses standards developed by ASTM, NFPA, DHS, FEMA, and other respected bodies to build education courseware, publications, and certifications. Government agencies and non-profit Search And Rescue Teams use NASAR's material and certifications to build credentialing programs for their organizations and produce highly skilled searchers that work within their communities and are available for mutual aid regionally and nationally. NASAR is a Virginia Non-Profit and Federal 501(C)3 which welcomes your donations to assist us in training searchers for your community.
