OverviewA memoir on the experience of whistleblowing, of working as an accountant in an international labor union in D.C. and discovering it was controlled by the Chicago Mafia. Hugh Giblin tells of connecting with government law enforcement and beginning a six-year covert search within the union to find evidence that could end the outrageous corruption of the union which greedily exploited its members, most of whom were low-income hotel and restaurant workers. He talks of the status of whistleblowing in our society, actual cases, laws, reward, and punishments as well as the need for reforms. He covers the psychology and motivation of whistleblowers, why they do it, risk retaliation (which often happens), loss of job, family, and financial security. Hugh relates in detail, the break-in of his public storage locker, and subsequent discovery, their response, and his reaction. His conclusion is about his further efforts for justice and the ultimate result of his blowing the whistle. 222 Pages Full Product DetailsAuthor: Hugh GiblinPublisher: Hugh Giblin Imprint: Hugh Giblin Dimensions: Width: 15.20cm , Height: 1.30cm , Length: 22.90cm Weight: 0.322kg ISBN: 9798223514381Pages: 236 Publication Date: 02 June 2023 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Paperback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In stock We have confirmation that this item is in stock with the supplier.
