Her previous publications include Toil and Plenty: Images of the Agricultural Landscape in England, 1780-1890 (Yale University Press, 1993) and Rustic Simplicity: Scenes of Cottage Life in Nineteenth-century British Art (Djanogly Art Gallery/Lund Humphries, 1998). She is co-curator (with Juliet McMaster) of a new display at Tate Britain, James Clarke Hook and Painters of the Sea, which will travel to Penlee House Gallery and Museum, Penzance, in 2008. Her other current projects are a comprehensive exhibition of nineteenth-century coastal scenes (with Scott Wilcox and Geoff Quilley) and a book on John Brett.
