Overview

A watercolor picture book intended to help guide our children to answer the difficult question of what the afterlife might entail. While there are many beliefs of what could be, in the end, nobody really knows. I wanted a book to help my daughter ask and answer the difficult questions about life and death to discuss the concepts together. I tried to incorporate almost every belief from the most significant religions and nonreligious ideas. Most importantly, I want her and other children to remember that no matter what happens after we die, we can continue to live in each other's thoughts, dreams, and memories. In essence, love can last forever.

"Kelsey does an amazing job of pulling the reader in with her illustrations and prose, highlighting the different schools of thought from many religions and cultures, as well as opening a much need safe space for dialogue with children regarding death. Wether it's death of a family member, a pet, or a friend at school, it can be very scary for children to feel the void that death brings. This book opens up that space to address the feelings and wonders that come with loss. I recommend it to all my friends who have children, as well as adults who are experiencing loss and have never explored what that might mean. Nice work Kelsey! It's a difficult topic to discuss with anybody. We can all ""hope"" for what comes after, but do we really knows? What a lovely book to foster curiosity and love rather than fear around death. The illustrations are breathtaking, and the message simple and clear: we all get to experience the adventure of dying, but first, life!
