Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationIn mid 2011, Craig De Ruisseau was a 42 year old American man living in New England and looking to get back into martial arts. He had researched various martial arts over the years and was ultimately drawn to Krav Maga for its brutal, no-frills practicality. Thoroughly scouring the internet for more details about the style yielded limited results. What he wanted was to get his hands on more than what he'd seen in the popular Krav Maga episode of the History channel's show, The Human Weapon . He was more than a little frustrated by the lack of information, particularly as it relates to what is involved from a training standpoint. Consequently, he started a blog called Krav Maga Journey that chronicled his experiences training in Krav Maga, starting from his very first day. Although the blog posts were well received, he began to realize that there were some topics that the blog format didn't handle adequately -- bigger topics which require more than just several paragraphs to cover. One way to address this was to put together a series of Guides and make them available through eBook and paperback formats. Hence, the concept of the Krav Maga Journey Guide was born. Craig's first publication, What to Expect When Starting in Krav Maga is focused on what's always been the most popular topic on the blog: what students can prepare for as they start (or consider starting) their training in Krav Maga. The Guide includes a quick overview of Krav Maga and addresses areas like class structure, sparring, and handling fear. It contains tips that are drawn from the questions new and prospective students often times ask. If someone is considering Krav Maga, is a new student, or if they know someone who is considering giving it a try, the Guide should prove to be invaluable to them.
