Author Information

Richard Van Camp is a proud member of the Tlicho Dene Nation from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. A graduate of the En'owkin International School of Writing, the University of Victoria's BFA in Creative Writing program and the MFA in Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia, Richard is the author of over twenty books in just about every genre, including Little You and Welcome Song for Baby. His novel The Lesser Blessed is now a movie with First Generation Films. Mary Cardinal Collins is a semi-retired teacher, fluent Cree speaker and translator. The Cree Literacy Network was created in 2010 to promote Cree language and cultural literacy, in oral form and through literacy materials. Through the essential tool of standard spelling, the Cree Literacy Network supports the fundamental right of Cree speakers to understand and be understood. Christian Down is a producer, musician and voice actor from Victoria, British Columbia. As a first-language speaker of Plains Cree (nehiyawewin), translator Dolores Greyeyes Sand has devoted her career to teaching and promoting Cree language and cultural literacy at every opportunity, proudly following the path laid by her late mother, Dr Freda Ahenakew CM, SOM.
