She spent nine days in the hospital and for months was simply surviving. At an inpatient rehabilitation hospital she lived attending physical, occupational and speech therapy. Even since the surgery, she continues to struggle with double vision and ataxia. In 2017 to raise awareness and continue her recovery she hiked over a thousand miles on the Appalachian Trail.
