Overview

This book seeks to both encourage those who are serious about following Christ but who are struggling with same-sex attraction, and to challenge the church to lend a listening ear and a helping and welcoming hand. The stories in this book are told with pathos, honesty, and courage. We must all recognise that whatever our story or struggle with sin (and we all have struggles), God has chosen us to be His children so that we can be conformed to the likeness of His Son. The church should understand this and provide a safe redemptive space to all of us sinners, whatever our problem, surrounded by the sheltering canopy of God's unchanging truth and abiding love. From the Foreword by Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon, The Methodist Church in Singapore

Verse 11 of 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 speaks of the tremendous power and grace from God for transformation. God's Word states that people who were once bound up in all kinds of sin and brokenness--including the pursuit of same-sex desires--can be cleansed and made right with God. This book reinforces the truth and reality of this experience for anyone affected by same-sex attraction who longs for healing and wholeness. Grab copies of it and help proclaim the ongoing miracle of lives set free. Derek Hong, Senior Pastor, Good Gifts City Church/City Missions Church With so much demonization of Christians in social and news media as haters of those with same-sex attraction, it is refreshing to read of Christians who reach out to them in love. May this book encourage more to do likewise, fulfilling the command of our Lord to love our neighbours as ourselves. Bishop Terry Kee, The Lutheran Church in Singapore There is a real need for greater understanding and openness within our churches about issues of sexuality. This collection of personal stories will certainly be a real encouragement to Christians who experience same-sex attraction to persevere in discipleship and also to help in equipping their friends and pastors to support them. Rev Vaughan Roberts; Rector of St Ebbe's Church, Oxford; Chairman of the Proclamation Trust The churches in Singapore, like so many of their counterparts throughout the world, are in the midst of grappling seriously with the question of how best to love and minister to those who experience same-sex attraction or who identify as LGBTQ. Reading this book--which is filled with honest, moving, and often very difficult and challenging testimonies--will give both same-sex attracted Singaporeans themselves as well as their friends and pastors a poignant and instructive glimpse into what it looks like to be on the front lines of engaging those questions. May there be many more such books in the years ahead! Wesley Hill; Associate Professor of New Testament, Trinity School for Ministry, Ambridge, Pennsylvania; Author of Washed and Waiting: Reflections on Christian Faithfulness and Homosexuality This book contains not just stories of individuals with same-sex attraction, but also stories of those who have come alongside their friend or child on this similar yet different journey--similar because we are all fallen, broken, and bruised reeds in need of our Saviour's love; different because the journey toward sexual wholeness and personal holiness holds unique challenges for the person who experiences same-sex attraction. Most importantly, pastors speak up in this book, proving that the Church can be a safe place of authentic relationships, with vulnerable intimacy and transparent accountability. Thank you to the Courageous Ones who have spoken, setting the example and providing the encouragement for every one of us to make a difference, bringing shame and sin into the loving Light.
