They say that the truth is always stranger than fiction, and that often times the obvious reasons for someone's disappearance is in all actuality the least likely reason for their disappearance. I tend to agree.Why would someone who had a wonderful life - a happy home, a successful business, a great marriage, no financial worries - just suddenly vanish into thin air? Or run away from home? Granted, some people may WANT to disappear, and more often than not for reasons unknown to their loved ones. Still, the number of people in Indiana - men, women, teenagers, and children - that have disappeared without a trace over the last forty years is almost staggering. Did they run away from home to start a new life somewhere else? Were they kidnapped and sold into white slavery? Were they killed by a former, jealous lover? Or were they the victim of a drifter, a roaming serial killer? So many possibilities, and so few real answers for their disappearance, so may cases left unsolved. After spending the last several years conducting a lot of research into missing persons cases, I have come to the conclusion that regardless of what evidence - or lack thereof - exists at the time, a lot of these missing people have been the victims of a serial killer. As of 2015, it was believed that up to 2,000 serial killers were active in the United States at any given time - and quite a few of these killers were from the state of Indiana. Were any of the victims profiled in this book victims of a serial killer? After reading this book, I will let you decide.
