Reviews

4 of 4 Stars: Although Christopher epitomizes the archetype of the Byronic hero, at no point does he romanticize his experiences with depression. The candid narrative detailing his outrageous and often downright abusive behavior is cringe-worthy at times, yet the heavy subject matter of the novel is balanced by scintillating prose, sparkling wit and a self-deprecating attitude that prevents this memoir from becoming an angst fest. The author has a gift for characterization, and the players in this story come to life through effortless dialogue and the narrator's sharp observation of human relationships. -onlinebookclub.org For those who have cared about someone who suffers from depression or anxiety, this is an invaluable chance to view the world from within the depths of a depressed mind in a way that engages, educates, and even entertains. It's a gift of validation to those who struggle with depression or anxiety. -Kristine Tye, MFT If you want to get inside the mind and experience of someone with really deep despair, but who can't see it and can't reach out for help, this book is a must read. I recommend it not only for men who are struggling, but for their friends and family too to help them to get a handle on an experience that often defies understanding, when seen from the outside. -Matt Fox, Counsellor and Ecotherapist
