Overview"There is a saying, ""It was a Friday night and it seemed like a good idea at the time."" That sums up the beginning of the State Capitols Project. When Jane Moorman told her brother of her idea of photographing state capitols, he said, ""You do know there are 50 states and two of them you can't drive to."" Her answer was, ""Your point is? It gives me a good reason to visit every state."" Each capitol has its own unique beauty that reflects the state's personality when it was built. Utah's capitol honors its pioneer history with artwork. A cyclorama circles the base of the rotunda dome containing eight scenes from Utah history. There are more than 100 characters, many of whom are more than 10 feet tall. The rotunda dome features a flock of seagulls that are barely visible to the naked eye. The birds represent the miracle of the gulls from Utah's history when they saved 1848 crops from a locus attack."
