His research focuses on Medieval Southern Italy during the Norman and Staufen periods, on urban communities, and on sanctity. His publication's include City and Community in Norman Italy (2009) and Sanctity and Pilgrimage in Medieval Southern Italy, 1000-1200 (2014), as well as numerous articles and essays.
