Dorsen was educated at Dartmouth College and the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry (Rutgers). He practiced general internal medicine for over a decade with Native Americans. He later specialized in sports medicine and was a Fellow in the Academy of Sports Medicine He has worked with the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team and at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. He has written over 150 human interest and juried articles.
