Table of ContentsReviewsI would recommend this text for any teacher or parent who wishes to move beyond Autism awareness towards Autism understanding. Dr Goodall writes from the heart, with a clear and easily read message. She illustrates her work pictorially, demonstrating the visual thinking so common amongst her peers. Often texts about including Autistic students in classrooms focus on strategies which are calming and address the individual's learning style. Dr Goodall takes us beyond these important stages to the next step - developing self-advocacy skills and fulfilling autistic potential. Geraldine Robertson Educator and International Speaker. I was pleased to see visual supports and planners included which would make this book a very practical resource for teachers or parents to help the autistic child. It was also good to see stress and anxiety covered as well as sensory sensitivities these are often triggers for meltdowns. A useful profile for sensory sensitivities is provided as well as calming and self-calming strategies. I would highly recommend this book for either parents of autistic children or teachers (or indeed anyone working with autistic children) as Dr Goodall's lived experience shows what can happen when the autistic potential is unlocked. JoD USA This book stands out from many other resources, because of the author's lived experience with autism, which shows through the explanations and recommendations throughout it. This lived experience makes it a valuable resource which should be a part of every school's resources. 5* Amazon review A really practical and insightful book, easy to use, helpful examples. i think parents will find it demystifying, as will teachers.
