Overview

Robin Anderson gives us a new perspective on a national historic treasure, The Carl Sandburg Home. While embracing its enduring character and history, she brings the reader along on an experiential journey of her own from throughout the historic site. Through the lens of her camera she has captured moments over a six year journey of intimate beauty and connection. The Carl Sandburg Home is the setting for stunning spring scenery and vistas of the distant mountains. The unique and individual characteristics of blooming wildflowers are given contrast and meaning through broader landscapes. The adventure carries over to the Connemara Goat Farm with its sometimes audacious creatures and picturesque setting. This book and several more to follow chronicle the author's exploration of Connemara and the imprint Carl Sandburg and his family left upon the land that inspires her and so many others.

Author Information

Robin Anderson fostered creativity and artistic expression in the lives of her children and those she encountered as a counselor for many years. Originally from nearby Asheville, NC she moved to Flat Rock in 2015 and almost immediately discovered The Carl Sandburg Home as a unique setting to nurture her own growth as an artist and individual. She views her photography as an opportunity to include readers in her own unique moments of discovery and insight into its natural and historic beauty. Along with her companions on the trails she has found the site to be truly an Uncommon Sanctuary.
