OverviewIrene Kung has always been fascinated by trees - both their shape and their symbolic meaning. In this book she deploys her great skill as a photographer to portray trees old and young, using the play of light to create stunningly beautiful compositions. Every leaf is shown in full detail. Kung imbues her photos with a poetic and very particular atmosphere. Whether they are taken in the sun or the rain, whether they show a tiny detail or the entire tree, whether they frame the foliage frontally or from above, the photos always highlight the tree's beauty and uniqueness. These striking images capture the spirit of the place and transmit it on photographic paper, as pure, intact and free from any contamination and urban interference as it should be. Kung's is a solitary process, waiting patiently, seeking the perfect photo. She does not escape from the void, she creates it on purpose and the void slowly embraces the subject becoming itself protagonist of the image.
