Transnational organized crime poses a significant and growing threat to national and international security. Not only are criminal networks expanding, they also are diversifying their criminal activities, resulting in the convergence of threats that were once distinct and today have even more explosive and destabilizing effects. Kimberly A. McCabe is a professor of criminology at the University of Lynchburg, as well as a consultant to federal, state, and local agencies in the United States for design, implementation, and evaluation of criminal justice and public safety program, strategic planning, recruitment, and problem-solving. She has also participated in criminal justice projects in Scotland, Serbia, Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Hungary, and Russia. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology and a master's degree in criminal justice from the University of South Carolina.
