Her memoir, As Long As I Know You: The Mom Book won AWP's Sue William Silverman Nonfiction Award, a Silver IPPY, and a Michigan Notable Book Award. She wrote Lake Michigan Mermaid with Linda Nemec Foster, Love, Sex and 4-H, and many others. The Long Fields, a retrospective of new and selected essays, is her most recent. Lake Huron Mermaid, a sister book to Lake Michigan Mermaid, is forthcoming in fall of 2024. Mary Bevans Gillett is the executive director for the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network, a regional arts services organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening the collective power of artists, culture bearers, arts and cultural organizations, the creative sector and vibrant communities throughout northern lower Michigan. A member of Michigan Writers, she has been a frequent contributor to regional publications including the Traverse City Record-Eagle and the Traverse City Business News, and regular participant at Interlochen Center for the Arts' annual Writers Retreat and the Writability Guild. From 2016-2024, Gillett led the Network's annual Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Summit which helped plant the seeds for this Transformational anthology and the MACC Community Partners grant project. Daniel Stewart is a writer, writing coach, storyteller, and occasional book designer and radio producer. He has a Ph.D. in history, and writes memoir and fiction (while trying to keep them from overlapping), and is also a past president of Michigan Writers, Inc.
