He served as chief foreign policy and national security adviser to the prime minister of Hungary in 2009-2010. Andris Spruds is an acting director of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs and an associate professor at Riga Stradins University and adjunct at Wyzsza Szkola Biznesu-National Louis University in Nowy Sacz, Poland.
