The fight against apartheid flings two young men, with shared hopes and dreams for a better South Africa, in tragically different directions.This is Johannesburg, in the early to mid-1970s: A white journalist, working on tip-offs and contacts provided by his young Indian apprentice, campaigns against apartheid, its symbols and often brutal ramifications; searching for truth and freedom...freedom of expression, freedom of choice, freedom from fear. His quest eventually brings him to Israel, where his hopes seem to be on the verge of realization, only to be dashed by personal loss in a terrorist attack. The chilling truth behind the attack sends him on a further mission...for revenge. This based-on-fact story presents a different narrative about apartheid-South Africa: from the point of view of a young white journalist, with a strong social conscience, who passionately hates what the policy is doing to his country and its people, and faces the dire consequences of his anti-government stance. In effect, a white victim of apartheid. It covers the turbulent years of mid-1970s South Africa, fear and tragedy during the first Intifada in Israel...and the interlaced events of the First Gulf War, the eventual capture of Saddam Hussein...and an ironic twist.

I was born in Cape Town, and educated at a leading high school in Durban, where I failed math miserably and hated science. I rebelled against playing compulsory sport - but I excelled at languages (English, French, Afrikaans) and Art. In my initial interview with the headmaster prior to enrolling in this respected school - which was run very much on the lines of an English-public school - I told him I wanted to be a journalist. He laughed. I was 13-years-old at the time: but it was a goal I nurtured for all the years of my high school education. Eventually I started working as a cub reporter on Durban's morning newspaper, the Natal Mercury on the routine beat. I then Joined the Sunday Tribune Johannesburg bureau; covered celebrities, political scandals, military affairs and student riots. When the gloss of journalism faded, I was lured into PR; eventually opening my own firm. After a family move to Israel in 1987, I branched into Marketing Communication for Israeli high-tech. I also write articles, short stories, travel blogs and children's books - two of which have been published in the US and SA. I am also a professional actor and a founder of the Guild Theater in Ra'anana (Israel). On the art of writing, screenwriter and dramatist Gene Fowler described it perfectly: Writing is easy. All you do is stare at a blank sheet of paper long enough, until drops of blood form on your forehead. My wife, Marlyn and I presently live in Tzur Yitzhak, north of Tel Aviv: we have three grown children and three grandsons.
