The editors have assembled a very impressive team of researchers with scholarly and practical experience in the energy sector, and their contributions cover a full range of policy issues related to the pursuit of a common EU energy policy. The volume is especially impressive in terms of linking market factors with political dynamics, and in terms of synthesizing domestic concerns with international trends at the European level and beyond. It should stand as a major reference work on the topic for scholars, policymakers, policy advocates, energy firms, and others with an interest in this increasingly critical issue in world politics in the 21st century. --Michael E. Smith, Professor, Department of Politics & International Relations, University of Aberdeen
