OverviewI not only wrote this book, I lived it. In 1967, the purchase of a grand, historic home in Uptown New Orleans changed my life. The Lady, as I came to call her, had been divided into apartments, stripped of her original architectural features, and was in desperate need of repair. I have spent years learning her history and rebuilding her former glory, all the while growing new friendships and building new history. This is the story of The Lady-the people who lived there, the detailed work that was done to save her, and those who helped along the way. I hope showing what I learned and went through will help those trying to restore or improve their home. Though I wish I could say I was finished saving The Lady, like a living creature, her maintenance and care continues.
