Overview

With the population pressure, soil is becoming an important factor so that mankind should take care of it, helping it to protect this heritage to maintenance or enhancement of biodiversity, water quality, nutrient cycling, and biomass production. There is need to create off-the-land activities to relieve land pressure.With globalization, Vietnamese agriculture have more opportunities but also face many challenges.

Trained as an agronomist and soil scientist, Dr Thai was former Director Agricultural Research Institute in the Republic of South Viet Nam. Professor in the College of Agriculture and other faculties in Saigon, Hue, Dalat Universities. Has published textbooks on Soil Science and numerous publications on land use, soil studies and integrated rural development. After 1975, worked with Canadian International Development Agency and other institutions in Africa, - both in East (Rwanda), West ( Guinée-Bissau, Guinée-Conakry) and Sahel (Mali )-, in Nepal and in Haiti (Caribbean ) . Presently retired and lives in Canada .
