Overview"thirty circles, the third published work and first published chapbook from Trang Quỳnh Thị Vũ, is a collection of 30 poems from the author as she begins her third decade of life. Vũ's poetry can be described as ""a hopeless romantic's melancholic melody"" for the tragedies and hidden truths of real life that is often shadowed by shame, and thirty circles offers exactly that with poems, ""eris // twenty-eight,"" ""alive // twenty-nine,"" and ""s. darko // thirty,"" which creates a crescendo of the author's major life decision to metaphorically burn her old life, following a path that never truly felt aligned with her soul, in order to start over and follow the one thing that she has always wanted to pursue: working in the film industry. thirty circles is a raw glimpse into the mind, heart, and soul of someone who always felt torn between two worlds and two lives: one of an refugee immigrant who never felt a sense of belonging due to the Vietnamese refugee diaspora and the other of an ambitious adolescent who grew up in a country that offered more opportunities for women in her culture back home. Finally breaking free of the invisible chains from familial, cultural, and societal pressures, she is finally on the path she'd been dreaming of since she was fifteen. This chapbook is a horcrux and gift to herself for her 30th solar return with the hopes of inspiring those stumble upon her words."
