Author Information

Dr. Ed Neukrug is the Batten Endowed Chair of Counseling in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at Old Dominion University. As the author of 13 books and dozens of articles and book chapters, his works have been read by thousands of counseling and human services students and professionals. A leader in several counseling and human services associations, he has helped steer the fields toward the future. In addition, Dr. Neukrug was the architect of the original ethics code of the National Association of Human Services (NOHS) and served in a variety of capacities for professional associations. He has several open-access, free websites which focus on learning of counseling theories, understanding one's view of human nature, oral histories of well-known theorists and more. His commitment to, and work in, the counseling and human services professions has been unwavering. Dr. Neukrug has received numerous awards for his work, including twice receiving the President's award from NOHS, and receiving the American Counseling Association's (ACA) Fellow's designation and Publications Award. He is also the Executive Director of the International Institute for the Advancement of Counseling Theory (IIACT).
