Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationAileen Campbell was born near Brahan Castle in northern Scotland. An art enthusiast even as a young girl, she was greatly influenced by J. Pittendrigh Macgillivray, the appointed king's limner, or royal painter, for Scotland. During World War II, she served as a registered nurse and certified nurse-midwife in both Scotland and England before immigrating to Canada. After moving to the United States, where she served again as an R.N. and CNM in Maryland, she has now retired in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. There she continues to paint and win recognition for her accomplished watercolors. Besides studying art, she has developed an interest in the music and literature of Scotland.
