Keel, PhD, is Distinguished Research Professor and Director of the Eating Behaviors Research Clinic in the Department of Psychology at Florida State University. Dr. Keel defined and characterized Purging Disorder as a potentially new disorder of eating, and this work contributed to the inclusion of Purging Disorder as an Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition. Dr. Keel is a Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), the Association for Psychological Science (APS), and the American Psychological Association (APA). She served as President for the Eating Disorders Research Society and President for the Academy for Eating Disorders and received the Leadership Award in Research from the Academy for Eating Disorders in 2019.
