Reviews

"""This is the perfect gift for the precocious 'tween who wants to be an artist or the reader of any age who enjoys clever, well-made books. Tis one has the bonus of offering geography and history lessons, a travelogue, a biography, a tutorial on the forices that make an artist and visual documentation from Van Gogh's own hand. The handsome hardbound volume has the playful feel of a Tin Tin comic but the heft of a volume befitting the Yale University Press imprint.""--Alan Bisbort, Waterbury Republican--Alan Bisbort ""Waterbury Republican """

"This vibrantly illustrated and beautifully written biography of Vincent van Gogh presents his life in a new way for young readers. Instead of relying on straight text, readers are invited to learn about him by following hand-drawn maps that show where he lived during his short life... Reading this atlas is like exploring a treasure or genealogical map as dotted lines from the text connect to accompanying historical photographs, maps, newspaper articles, and illustrations that highlight specific details... This unique and irresistible biography of Vincent van Gogh is highly recommended.-- ""Booklist (starred review)"""
