Tomasi, C.S., Apostolic Nuncio, is a Member and Delegated Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. He became a priest in New York in 1965 and holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Fordham University, New York. A member of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St Charles-Scalabrinians, he served as Provincial Superior of their New York Province. He has worked and written in the area of migration, and has served as founding Director of the Center for Migration Studies of New York, as Director of Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Washington, as Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerants, Rome, as Nuncio in Ethiopia, Eritrea and Djibouti, and Observer to the African Union.
