The Sojourner’s Road Home is a superb devotional for travelers in the journey of life. Each day’s insights are shared in a down-to-earth tone mixed with thought-provoking questions and quick wit. You’ll find the stories relatable and interesting, and the praise and prayer prompts on-target. Kelly Mack McCoy has written a 40-day roadmap to Home–a roadmap I can see myself perusing many times over. ~Brenda Blanchard, author of No Greater Love: 40 Prayers of Preparation and Praise, and Light in the Darkness (Release date Fall 2023) The Sojourner’s Road Home is a great devotional to take with you wherever your journey leads you. The road we travel through this life can often become lonely and challenging when we miss the fellowship of others. But God the Holy Spirit is always present in our lives. He is our true traveling partner guiding our lives on the road home. As we travel the road of faith, we are assured we are not traveling alone. This 40-day journey to the heart of God reminds us of this truth and is an excellent resource for our life of faith. ~Timothy Jones, pastor, missionary, and founder of Go to the Truth Ministries  Our everyday life often seems insignificant when, actually, everyday life is our spiritual journey where choices and perspectives matter most. In The Sojourner’s Road Home, author Kelly Mack McCoy delivers divine insight into the importance of the journey itself. Open these pages, and you will find the path to a closer walk with God. ~Lana McAra, Christy Award-Winning author of Reaping the Whirlwind An encouraging Bible devotional is like a good home-cooked meal for the soul. Kelly Mack McCoy serves weary travelers with nourishing and tasty meals in The Sojourner’s Road Home. ~Phillip Telfer, pastor, author, director of Media Talk 101, and founder of the Christian Worldview Film Festival The Sojourner’s Road Home causes us to reflect upon the spiritual battle raging all around us–a battle for our mind. The reason for this vicious and intense battle is that our minds are our greatest asset. When the things of the world cloud our minds, it becomes easy for us to feel lost and lose focus. We are unable to hear God, and so our sojourn here is without direction. We lose sight of what it is to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and struggle to find a way back to Him. The Sojourner’s Road Home will help you find your way back. When we trust in God, we are not aimlessly wandering through life. He has a plan for each of us. This world is not our home. Heaven is our home. Our journey leads us home to God. ~Ron Fraser, M.Div., BCPCC, President, and CEO of TFC Global

Author Information

Kelly Mack McCoy pursued a life-long dream of becoming an author after a life-altering event changed the trajectory of his life. He teamed up with author John Floyd Mills, a former writer with the San Antonio Light newspaper, to co-author a series of novels. The protagonist would be a trucker-turned-pastor-turned-trucker who sells everything to buy a new Peterbilt truck and hits the road after his wife’s death. The two never wrote the novels, however. John Floyd Mills went on to write his second novel alone. Kelly Mack McCoy continued with the trucker-turned-pastor-turned-trucker project on his own, but it took another life-changing event for him to be motivated to see the project through to completion. That event was the death of John Floyd Mills. The completed project would become the highly acclaimed novel Rough Way to the High Way. Rough Way to the High Way is a stand-alone novel, but a sequel was and is planned. However, when McCoy's world turned upside down during recent events, the road he traveled branched off in another direction, as did his writing journey. In Robert Frost’s best-known and most-loved poem, The Road Not Taken, two roads diverged before the traveler. The traveler (sojourner) stood and pondered the choice that lay before him. To continue his journey, he was forced to decide whether to travel one or the other. He chose the one less traveled. The road less traveled became a metaphor for the narrow road for this sojourner (McCoy). He chose to take it and remain on that road for the rest of his sojourn through this world. The inspiration for his second book, The Sojourner's Road Home, A 40-Day Journey to the Heart of God, came during a dark time for many. The book is a daily reminder that we are all sojourners in this life. Day 20, right in the middle of the 40-day journey, talks about detours or side trips we’ll take during our sojourn here. The Sojourner's Road Home became much more than a detour. McCoy needed that reminder during these difficult times and knew many of his fellow sojourners did as well. Kelly Mack McCoy lives in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with his lovely wife, Miss Emily, and his two Yorkies, Dixie and Dolly. Dixie is a fearless, huge dog trapped inside a tiny little dog’s body. Dolly, aka, Troublemaker, is afraid of her own shadow but rules the roost at home as the spoiled-rotten little sister to Dolly. Jim Woodford was born in the Canadian province of Newfoundland. His father died when he was just two years of age. Jim was raised in the home of his maternal grandparents, where he developed a fascination with aircraft at an early age since there was a seaplane dock at the edge of the river where the family lived. That fascination led to a lifelong love of flying. His career as a pilot began when he was nineteen years old, making him one of the youngest licensed pilots in Canada. Jim would fly small aircraft to lakes in remote regions of the country as other means of transport were often unavailable, especially during the bone-chilling Canadian winters. His career path elevated him into the cockpits of ever larger aircraft until he became captain of a major airline. Jim traveled extensively during his tenure as a pilot. His travels have taken him from Toronto in his native Canada to Timbuktu and everywhere in between. But an unplanned destination forever changed the course of Jim’s life. A flight to Heaven caused him to return home a changed man. He has since dedicated his life to helping take as many passengers with him as he can on his return flight. His mission also includes encouraging believers to dedicate their lives to the Savior he met on the journey to his ultimate home. You may learn more about Jim Woodford and his ministry by reading Heaven, An Unexpected Journey, and by visiting his website. Jim’s love for flying is matched only by his passion for horses. He now resides in New Brunswick, Canada, with his wife Lorraine and his beloved horses.
