Author Information

Byron Edgington capped a forty-year aviation career in 2005 to return to college and to write. He earned his BA in English from The Ohio State University in June 2012 at age 63. His flying experience includes 12,500 hours of logged time in twenty different military and commercial aircraft, corporate, ENG, charter and tour flying. Publication credits include the non-fiction essay titled 'Lift Off, ' winner of The Bailey Prize offered by the Swedenborg Foundation Press. 'Lift Off' appears in the 2012 issue of The Chrysalis Reader. Edgington's work in progress includes 'Waiting for Willie Pete: A Helicopter Novel of Vietnam, ' Final Sky, an Air Medical Love Story, ' 'Bless Me Father: Losing My Religion & Finding Myself, ' and Honorary Fag: My Journey as a Straight Male in Homophobic America.' The Sky Behind Me, a Memoir of Flying and Life is based on his 40 year career in aviation, and a unique perspective on life from his seat in the sky. Edgington is married to his best friend, Mariah. He has three beautiful daughters, a delightful grandson and a happy, gorgeous granddaughter. He's a Federal Club member of the Human Rights Campaign, an advocate for civil marriage equality and a CRM instructor. Byron Edgington lives and writes in Columbus Ohio.
