Dr. Spike has written numerous articles and reviews for art historical journals, especially the Burlington Magazine, FMR and The Art Newspaper. He has recently published major books on the Florentine Renaissance: Masaccio (Abbeville, 1996) and Fra Angelico (Abbeville, 1997). His books on other Italian subjects include A Connoisseur's Guide to the Met (co-author, Paul Magriel; Random House, 1988) and Fairfield Porter: An American Classic (Harry N. Abrams, 1992).
