House has now written and published 18 marine titles, many of which are in multiple editions. After commencing his seagoing career in 1962, he was initially engaged on general cargo vessels. He later experienced worldwide trade with passenger, container, Ro-Ro, reefer ships and bulk cargoes. He left the sea in 1978 with a Master Mariner qualification and commenced teaching at the Fleetwood Nautical Campus. He retired in 2012 after 33 years of teaching in nautical education. He continues to write and research maritime aspects for future works. Farhan Saeed joined the merchant navy in 1988 and was engaged in worldwide trading as a Deck Officer on general cargo ships, container vessels and passenger vessels with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation. His marine studies, leading to a Master Mariner qualification, have been undertaken at the Pakistan Marine Academy, the Australian Maritime College and Fleetwood Nautical Campus in the UK. He obtained an MSc in computer-based information systems in 2001 from the University of Sunderland, UK. After six years of teaching nautical science in Fleetwood Nautical Campus, he has been engaged as Senior Lecturer in Maritime Operations at Liverpool John Moores University, UK, since 2008.
