His qualifications include a Diploma in Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Land use Planning, and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. Degree in Geography Education. Dr. Prasad worked as a high school teacher at various high schools in Fiji, teaching social science, geography, and English, and as a senior education officer at the Curriculum Advisory Services of the Ministry of Education, Suva, Fiji. He started his tertiary teaching career as an Assistant Professor in Geography at the Department of Social sciences at the Fiji National University in 2019.
