OverviewTheranos, a blood-testing company that is no longer in operation, was founded and led by American businesswoman and entrepreneur Elizabeth Holmes. In Washington, D.C., Holmes was born on February 3rd, 1984. She was a Stanford University student who left in 2003 to start Theranos. The company was established with the goal of creating a cutting-edge blood-testing device that would only need a little volume of blood and deliver precise findings quickly Holmes was regarded as a prodigy and the next Steve Jobs, and Theranos attracted considerable media attention and investment funding. Later, it was found that the technology didn't work the way it was said it would and that the business had tricked investors and customers. In 2018, Sunny Balwani, the former president of Theranos, and Holmes were charged with many counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Currently, Holmes is being tried for these allegations.
