The umbilical wall is marked by a series Of spiral cords that grow consecutively weaker from the outer inward. The last whorl is solute for about one-twentieth of a turn. Aperture auricular or pear-shaped. The peristome is simple. Operculum paucispiral with the nucleus halfway between subcentral and marginal; the outside is usually covered with a thin deposit of fine calcareous granules.
