He is best-known for the classic Christmas poem 'A Visit from St. Nicholas' (later known as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas'), which was first published anonymously in 1823. Other featured poets include Thomas Hardy, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Wordsworth, Robert Louis Stevenson, Emily Brontë, William Shakespeare, John Keats, Walt Whiteman and Emily Dickinson. Arthur Rackham (1867-1939) was a leading English illustrator celebrated for his work on children's books, particularly fairy tales.
