Once introduced, the picture book genre captivated her imagination with its unique blend of story and illustration. Although she is an international literary agent, editorial consultant, and bookseller, her passion for creating her own books remains. Her most recent publications include My Cat, Coon Cat, The Blues Go Birding Series, and a reissue of Moon Loon. Stay tuned...more in store! Her devotion to the art of picture books is best explained by a favorite quote by author/illustrator, Robert Lawson... It is difficult, if not impossible, to know which of the myriad of children's books will penetrate a given child's own magic circle of existence and strike the clarion note of pure truth. No one can possibly tell what tiny detail of a drawing or what seemingly trivial phrase in a story will be the spark that sets off a great flash in the mind of some child, and will glow there for life. Sandy's life work has exposed her to a wealth of ideas and wonder. Even more valuable, she knows that her own books, as well as those she has helped others to publish, have touched many souls, young and old. These include her now-grown children, Scott and Kimberly, and her young grandson, Lincoln. Sandy is an active member of SCBWI. She lives in her native mountains of Colorado and travels often to her lakeside cottage in Maine. Jan Dolby is an internationally published illustrator from Toronto, Canada. She has a Fine Art degree from the University of Guelph and has illustrated over 20 picture books. Her studio The Pink Suitcase is located in her century home she shares with her husband, two children and dachshund Margaret. Jan is a painter, treasure hunter, hockey fan and tiny house lover. Her favourite animated character is Gru. You can see more of her work at jandolby.com. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
