Overview

The Neutron is a subatomic particle (symbol n ) which has about the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge. The Neutron has a spin value of 1/2 and is present in all atomic nuclei except those of hydrogen. Neutrons and protons, each with a mass of approximately one atomic mass unit, constitute the nucleus of an atom and are collectively referred to as nucleons.Within the nucleus, Neutrons and protons are bound together through the nuclear force, and neutrons are required for the stability of nuclei. Neutrons are produced in large quantities during nuclear fission and fusion. Neutrons and protons are a primary contributor to the nucleosysnthesis of chemical elements within stars through fission, fusion and Neutron capture processes. This book gives a comprehensive overview of the Neutron and is designed to be a general overview of the topic and provide you with the structured knowledge to familiarize yourself with the topic at the most affordable price possible. The level of discussion is that of Wikipedia. The accuracy and knowledge is of an international viewpoint as the edited articles represent the inputs of many knowledgeable individuals and some of the most currently available general knowledge on the topic, based on the date of publication.
