Overview

Description of the Book: This book captures the magic and excitement of Christmas for young ones everywhere! The story begins on Christmas Eve. Five little mice are snuggled in bed. It's their first Christmas, and they're too excited to fall asleep. Suddenly, they hear a loud snoring sound. They sneak out of their little home to discover Santa asleep on the couch. Thus begins an adventure that becomes their Christmas tradition for years to come. The full-page illustrations that accompany this storybook make it a coloring book as well. Children can color the charming scenes of the little mice in their own bed, their first encounter with Santa, and their clever antics, which end in a humorous disaster and a frantic escape. In the scenes that follow, Santa plays a role in making every Christmas extra special for these mice. Santa believes little ones everywhere should enjoy Christmas! About the Author: Having retired from a long career in elementary education and child psychology, Dr. Palmer now writes children's books that entertain, reinforce basic academic skills, encourage creativity, and foster positive emotional growth. Among her published works are her illustrated children's books Ernestina the Ant, Tales from Nestorville (Books 1 & 2), A Noble Heart, El raton con el mechon (and its English translation The Mouse with Spiky Hair), and Aaaachooo! (a story and drawing book). In this latest book, The Mice Who Loved Christmas, she teamed up with an illustrator and fellow educator to produce a charming story and coloring book that allows children to experience the joy of Christmas through the eyes of little mice. About the Illustrator: Donnie Norwood has lived his lifelong passion for both education and art. His academic achievements include an undergraduate degree in elementary education with a minor in art, a master's degree in educational administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership. He has worked as an elementary teacher, an elementary principal, and as an Executive Director of Technology. Currently, he works online as a graduate professor with University of Phoenix. He has also applied his artistic training and skills in his role as a volunteer at Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center, helping children with special needs create artworks for their annual fund-raising event. He is a member of Watercolor Horizons Group in Odessa. Dr. Norwood's background in art and experience working with children uniquely qualify him as an illustrator of children's books. The first book he illustrated, I am Just a Yellow Cat by Phil Fouche, is equally entertaining for children and adults. His illustrations for this book, The Mice Who Loved Christmas, are sure to thrill and amuse young children who believe in the magic of Christmas.
