Overview

This is the story of a mermaid who is happy in her warm, blue ocean until ...she finds something so wonderful that nothing can ever be the same again. This delightful boardbook has indented foil details on every page, bringing to life all the flashy fish, beautiful shells, gleaming pearls, bright little anemones, the shining sun...and a fantastic falling star. It is told with simple language that youngsters can follow easily, whether they are read to or try by themselves. It is ideal for sharing with little ones aged 2 to 7. Once, long ago, a mermaid lived in a warm, blue ocean. All around her, pretty fish darted and seaweed swayed. Shells lay like jewels on the seabed, and the sun sparkled on the water all day long. The mermaid loved her home and was happy there, swishing the waves with her gleaming tail, her hair swirling in the tide. One evening, she sat on a rock, watching the sun go down. It glowed orange, pink and gold. The mermaid remained on her rock until night fell and the sky became an inky blue. The moon and stars splashed the waves with silvery light. Suddenly, a single, perfect star whizzed across the sky, fizzing like a firework. The mermaid gasped. She had never seen anything so wonderful. The star seemed to twinkle just for her. All of these delights are highlighted with special holographic foil in this beautiful boardbook. However, when the star disappears, the mermaid feels very sad and alone. She longs to see it again. Fear not, she will ...and so will readers of this charming book. Youngsters will learn a valuable lesson, too - that if you truly love something, you should set it free.
