Author Information

Neil Barr is a social researcher with DPI based in Bendigo. During a research career spanning the last quarter century he has pursued his interest in the restructuring of agriculture and the adoption of conservation innovations in agriculture. His interest has been targeted on the northern irrigation regions in particular. His Masters and PhD work were both based on studies of irrigation farm adjustment to salinity and water trade. He is the author of two books. Greening a Brown Land was an environmental history of resource conservation innovation in Australian agriculture. The House on the Hill is a personal account of the social transformation of Australian farming over the past quarter century.
