Reviews

Victor Matthews has produced an accessible, fair, and balanced study of the history of Bronze and Iron Age Israel. Besides his fluency with the extra-biblical and archaeological tools needed in examining these periods, Matthew particularly incorporates memory studies to help students understand the different functions of foundation stories in their retellings in the course of Israel's history. Highly recommended! --Gale A. Yee, Nancy W. King Professor of Biblical Studies Emerita, Episcopal Divinity School
