Overview

A beautiful jacketed hardback edition of F. Scott Fitzgerald classic novel, The Great Gatsby, with brand-new, full-color illustrations by Ludovic Salle. Jay Gatsby is a mystery to Nick. On the surface he is a man of wealth and excess - throwing wild, extravagant parties that run deep into the night. But cracks begin to show in this façade as we meet Daisy Buchanan, the lady across the lake who is the object of his quiet obsession. As events unfold, both Gatsby and narrator Nick are forced to confront the rot beneath the shiny surface of high society and the unreality of the American dream. A 100 years since its publication, this tragic love story remains a paragon of the Great American Novel. Whether you're approaching The Great Gatsby for the first time, or want to experience it afresh with brand-new illustrations, this unabridged collectible edition is perfect for any lover of classic literature. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Arcturus Illustrated Classics series brings together handsome hardcover editions of classic works, beautifully presented with full-color, specially-commissioned illustrations, patterned endpapers and dust jackets.

Author Information

F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940) was a novelist and short story writer, celebrated worldwide for his touching and tragic portrayals of the American Jazz Age. His fiction drew heavily on his own life, particularly on his passionate but turbulent marriage to beautiful Zelda Saure, dubbed 'the first American Flapper'. After receiving only moderate critical success in his lifetime, Fitzgerald is now heralded as one of the greatest writers in American history. Ludovic Salle is a freelance artist and illustrator with a degree in visual communication. He likes to make his illustrations travel in time with colorful and attractive pictures, installing them in scenes that include aesthetic, funny or offbeat characters.
