Overview

The Great Full is more than a vegetarian cookbook. It is an exploration of how we eat, the way this impacts ourselves, others and the planet and an invitation to take part in creating change. Weaving stories, recipes and inspiring advice, food systems expert Michelle Grant places food at the center of the major challenges facing humanity today. The Great Full will help you explore how to make a contribution to these challenges, while nurturing your own wellbeing, through intentional eating, shopping and cooking. Filled with insights, practical tips and 70 delicious and simple vegetarian and plant-based recipes, this book aims to help you find both purpose and joy in the everyday act of eating. The first part of The Great Full is filled with fascinating, easy to follow content on all the ways our food connects us with the world. Michelle takes you on a journey to understand the impact of our food system on people and the planet through well-researched information, vibrant images and illustrations. You will learn how our food links us to big global challenges like hunger, obesity, poverty, climate change, biodiversity loss and resource use. The book then helps you explore how you can engage with creating positive change, beginning, but not ending, in your kitchen. Through sections on intentional eating, shopping and cooking you will get practical tips on how to take action and make food the foundation of a sustainable lifestyle. The second part of The Great Full includes more than 70 plant-based and vegetarian recipes that celebrate whole-food cooking. The book includes an overview of a sustainable diet and how to set up a plant-based kitchen along with delicious, healthy and simple recipes for breakfast, starters, soups, salads, mains, sweet treats, drinks, sauces and toppings. This is a beautiful and inspiring book that gracefully shows how we can support our own wellbeing and the health of the planet in a way that is both purposeful and joyful.
