The Fortunes of Philippa is a the story of a young south-American girl called Philippa whose father takes her to England in order for her to achieve a good education. As a result, she attends a typical English boarding school called The Hollies , the story concentrating around her various experiences there. Angela Brazil (1868 - 1947) was an English author most famous for being one of the first writers of modern schoolgirls' stories . Brazil's work had a significant influence on changing the nature of fiction for girls. Her charters were chiefly young females, active, independent, and aware.
