Author Information

George W. Govier is a retired professor of chemical engineering and dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta. He was a pioneer in research and is the author of numerous publications on the flow of gas-liquid mixtures in vertical and horizontal pipes, as well as a consultant on the flow of two-phase and non-Newtonian systems. Following his teaching and research career, Govier joined Alberta's Energy Resources Conservation Board, where he served as chairman for 10 years. He is the recipient of several honorary degrees and numerous awards, including SPE's Anthony F. Lucas Gold Medal. Khalid Aziz is the Otto N. Miller Professor of Earth Sciences and professor of energy resources engineering at Stanford University, where he has also served as chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering and associate dean for research in the School of Earth Sciences. Before coming to Stanford in 1982, Aziz was a professor of chemical engineering at the University of Calgary and manager of the Computer Modelling Group, and he has held several other academic and industrial positions in the US, Canada, and Pakistan. He is an Honorary Member of SPE and a member of the US National Academy of Engineering.
