Overview

Francis Kotula, a Christian schoolteacher, risked his, and his family's life when smuggling these hand-written notes out of the city of Rzeszow, Poland, on a regular basis during the Nazi occupation. This book is the only known account of what actually happened to the Jews of Rzeszow as seen by an eyewitness to all the atrocities. Kotula was in a unique position and situation to observe and record what he saw to fellow citizens he knew reasonably well. It is his frank, open-mindedness, of these events that we are duty bound to preserve.

Author Information

The late Mr. Francis Kotula was a local schoolteacher during the German occupation of Rzeszow, Poland, during World War Two. He made copious notes on his observation of the treatment of Jews in his area. The original edition was published in 1999 in Polish. Mrs. Gabrielle Eisen has made it her life's ambition to have this work translated and published in the English language. She is a native of that area in Poland and settled in Australia shortly after the war. She believes this book is the only record of what happened to the Jews of Rzeszow and was determined to preserve the open-mindedness of the account from Kotula, a Christian schoolteacher, who risked his, and his family's life when smuggling the hand-written notes out of the city on a regular basis.
