OverviewIn a world where people ignore scientific information as if it's an estranged relative's opinion on some weird something they heard at the barbershop, we find ourselves holding a children's book that tries to bridge the gap between people that are paying attention and people that choose their convenience over all else. Though Mic Fox is no stranger to writing children's books with adult themes, The Earth Book seems to be his darkest work yet. No, you won't find an antagonistic Chicken being boiled alive, (Chicken's Made of Chicken). But what you will find is a to-the-point, brutal depiction of what happens if we don't get our nonsense together in the most immediate future. What The Earth Book lacks in the cheeky stoner humor we're used to seeing in Mic's work, it makes up for in poignant hand written words and simple, foreboding pictures-The kind of pictures that make you miss the whimsical plywood cut-outs of Don't Get Too High (said the Bird to the Fly). Despite the ominousness that comes with this tale, it reminds us that if we stop for a second and take reverence for the world around us-if we accept our time here with honor and responsibility-then we are not too late to change the trajectory of our planet.
