Overview

"Looking for a funny children's book for your 4-12 aged kid that might change their lives forever? Want to give your elementary age child some hope about the brain God has given them? The Dummy Pits is for you! Ever felt dumb? Ever been told you are stupid? Well, this children's book has been written with you in mind. It's a tale of Billy and his dummy armpits that try to convince him he really is dumb and that he better never try to overcome his internalized self-doubt. It's a story of beating back the lies we have in our heads so we can realize we are far from dummies. We can all be smart. We can all be A+. We decide how we will be known - not our peers or the past. Story: Billy has always been told he is a ""dummy"" and he has always believed it. In class, he never answers questions for fear that he might be wrong. But one day, he is absolutely sure he knows the correct answer no one else knows. So, he decides to raise his hand and show his true brainpower. But when he does, his armpit starts yelling out about how he should put his arm down to keep from showing his actual stupidity. Billy has to decide whether or not to overcome his reputation as the dunce and also now the pleas from his armpits to reveal that he is actually as smart as everyone else. It's a cool children's book that will encourage all who read it!"

Reviews

"""I love this book! The central character, Billy, overcomes his reputation, his critical classmates, and his own negative self-perception (his talking armpits) resulting in a life-changing breakthrough. The message is SOOOO good, and the story is told in classic Snapp and Redden style-an enjoyable, quirky and easy-to-read poetry. Illustrations are excellent! So far, I've read all the authors' books-this is a collection worth having!"" ""Snapp and Redden's books have the perfect combination of creative humor and relevant messages for both children and adults. Many of us can relate to the Dummy Pits and how negative self-talk can spin us out of control and hold us back. Like all of their books, I will be sharing this one with all of my friends and family! I highly recommend!"" ""Rewind your mind to elementary or junior high school and you'll likely remember experiencing something akin to the plot in this little book. ""Dummy Pits"" is a simple and effective tool, helping parents initiate conversations with their children about valuing themselves as those made in God's image. We need more like this!"" ""Just read this book and I have to say, such a creative way to put forth such an important message! When kids believe they are not smart, they are held back from really ever trying and never get to see just how capable they are. What a clever and fun way to show kids to ignore the things that hold them back and really apply themeselves!"" ""Such a fun and creative read that shows sometimes the bravest acts is not something grand for all to see but ignoring the lies you believe about yourself. This book encourages you to stand up for yourself and see how truly smart and capable you are. Excellent rhyming-like prose, entertaining story, and fun illustrations."" ""So relatable for every child at some point in their school years! Such a great message and story for overcoming that paralyzing fear that keeps us from fulfilling our God given purpose in this life!"" ""This is a must read for those nearing middle school who question themselves and their intelligence in front of their peers. This is a new take on ""The Little Engine that Could"". A fun read!"" ""Snapp and Redden have done it again! This creative and humous tale, demonstrates the ongoing challenges most of us face as children and adults! Love the message and unique style!"""
